Shape Botswana’s Future – Share Your Bold Ideas Today: Call for Ideas

Botswana stands at the edge of a new chapter — one where innovation, enterprise, and local ambition fuel our journey to a future of prosperity.

Through the Call for Ideas under the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP), we are opening the door to those ready to build with us. This is not a contest. It is a call to action — for thinkers, investors, entrepreneurs, and institutions with bold ideas that can spark real economic progress.

We are looking for projects and ideas that:

• Unlock new engines of growth across the country
• Bring fresh thinking to old challenges
Create jobs and expand opportunities for Batswana
Position Botswana competitively in the region and globally
• Support inclusive and sustainable development, not just growth

Whether you are a citizen with a vision, a business leader with a plan, or an investor with insight—your idea could shape Botswana’s next era. Let’s build a future that’s uniquely ours.

This is a non-financial call for proposals. Selected projects may be considered for further engagement through national implementation platforms. For details, refer to our FAQ or contact the BETP team.

Our Process

Step 1

We welcome all individuals and organisations to submit bold projects or transformative project ideas by 11:59PM on 17 August 2025.

Step 2

Project ideas and opportunities will be reviewed and shortlisted based on rigorous financial and economic analysis to ensure they are high-impact, transformative, and aligned with Botswana’s national development goals — with a focus on maximising investment value and advancing sustainable, private sector–driven growth.

Step 3

These are then co-developed further in a Lab session (11 August 2025 – 5 September 2025) with multiple stakeholders including various Government Ministries, Agencies, Private Sector Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, Industry Leaders, Prospective Investors, Project Idea Contributors and more. The co-development process includes extensive qualitative and quantitative analysis of market research and global trends, benchmarking exercises, requirements and success factors stocktaking, viability assessments and detailed implementation plans to ensure effective realisation of project ideas.

Step 4

Project ideas that are successfully co-developed during the Lab sessions may receive further support through investment lead generation, policy and regulatory facilitation, and matching with relevant investors and resources to enable implementation.

Step 5

Submissions will be assessed for their potential to create economic value and their alignment with Botswana’s national priorities, including Botswana’s high-income goals and the country’s broader economic transformation agenda.
